The LG L40g Optimus Extreme is another in this new line of LG Optimuses for Straight Talk. This phone is basically identical to the LG Optimus Logic (LG l35g) and Optimus Dynamic except for the fact that it is a larger phone, so not quite as compact. With that, you get a larger 4.0″ screen instead of the smaller 3.2″ found on the LG Logic. Additionally, the Optimus Extreme offers a significantly better digital camera as it comes with 5.0 megapixels and led flash versus the 3.0 mp (no flash) on the LG Logic/Dynamic. Of course with the bigger screen on the Extreme, we find a larger form factor. The Extreme is almost a full inch taller and about same width. That said, the Extreme is noticeably thinner than the Dynamic or the Logic which is somewhat surprising. The Extreme is also about 1 oz heavier so not much difference there. Aside from the obvious physical difference, the fact that the Extreme comes with Android 4.0 while both the Dynamic and Logic come with the older Android 2.3.
All other specs, are essentially the same. Both phones offer the entry level 800mhz processor and the same Android operating system. Additionally, both phones are 3g so they will both run on either TMobile or AT&T. One thing to mention is the fact that the Extreme does have 1gb of built in memory where the Logic/Dynamic have none. While specs are similar, the Extreme performs more like a mid level phone than an entry level phone due to the fact that it comes with the newer Android 4.0 os.
In the looks department, the clear winner is the LG Optimus Extreme because it looks much more high end than the other two. It has a nice black chrome look bezel as opposed to the more plastic looking bezels found on the other two. While all 3 are all plastic construction, the Extreme has a more refined look feel to it.
So which should you pick, the LG Logic/LG Dynamic or the LG Extreme? Well, besides the obvious size difference is the fact that the Extreme comes with the latest Android 4.0 OS which makes it a better performing phone. Of course the newer OS, additional memory, screen size and better camera will cost you about $60-$70 more with the Optimus Extreme over the Dnamic or Logic. My personal choice would be the LG Extreme because of the larger screen , better camera and most importantly the better Operating system. That said, the LG Logic or Dynamic is a fine choice as well if you are on a tight budget.
